If you wish to configure your personal domain to your Chime website, please complete the following:
1. Please make a copy/back up of your original DNS settings, and send it to us at email@example.com
2. Change the A records in the DNS settings to make sure they are only 2 A records of which the Host/Name = #your domain#, Value = 126.96.36.199 and 188.8.131.52.
(Remove other A records of which the Name = #your domain#)
For example, If your personal domain is abc.com, the A records should be added like this.
3. Add a CNAME which has Name = www, Value = #your domain#
It is recommended to add both of the two A records if you would like to install our Free SSL for this domain. Please be advised that if there’s only 1 A record point to Chime, the visitor will only have 50% chance to view the site, so both A records must add in your domain provider account. Otherwise may cause the website down.
For Godaddy and Google domains A records pointing method, please click on links below:
4. After 2 A records added, you will see your personal domain being directed to chime.me, which means the A records have been successfully set up. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know, so we will finish the rest of the steps.
Please note that once the domain configuration is accomplished, the original web page under your domain will be covered and replaced by your Chime wesite.
If you feel like this is very troublesome, we also offer two other options:
Please send us your domain provider, along with the domain account login credentials(Username&Password) to email@example.com. Then you could leave everything to us. This process usually will take 1-2 business days. (If there's any verification on logging in your account, it would be great if you could remove it temporarily)
For Godaddy and Google domains, you can also grant delegate access to firstname.lastname@example.org. Then email Chime support back and we will get your domain configured to Chime. As for the Google domain, it’s recommended to give email@example.com access instead of login credentials.
