Introduction
The website navigation is the outline of the available pages on the website for any site visitor. It is very important to have this essential feature up-to-date and customized to present the correct pages and in the correct order. All edits to the navigation will be reflected on this section of the websites:
To edit this section, navigate to the Chime CMS Tool > Page Editor > Select the page drop-down menu at the top.
Page vs. Folder
A page is a specific link that connect directly to a specific page with its own URL, etc. A page can be listed at the top level of the navigation (i.e. clicking on "Home" takes you directly to the home page) or you can list a page within a folder.
A folder is a category that can be used to organize the website navigation above and beyond simply having one level of pages. In the example below, "Test Folder" is a folder that is listed directly on the main navigation. When a site visitor hovers over "Test Folder," they are presented with the content within that folder. In this example, "Blogs" and "Test Subfolder" would be on that list. Folders can also be nested again within another folder (only one more level maximum) as seen in this example.
Reorder Pages/Folders
Reorder the pages on the navigation by simply dragging and dropping the page/folder to the location where you would like it to be on the website. For example, the TOP of the CMS Tool navigation is the LEFT of the actual live site.
Hide/Show Pages/Folders
Hiding and displaying pages is as simple as hovering over the page/folder and then selecting the eyeball icon as seen below. Hiding a page on the navigation keeps that page as an actual page on the website, but it will not be displayed on the navigation. If someone had the direct link to that page, they could still navigate to that page even though it does not appear on the navigation.
Link to External URLs
To link to an external URL and add that link on your Chime site navigation, select the blue button to "+ Add Page" and then select "Link" from the two options available:
The next step is to define the "Page Name" that you want to display on the navigation menu and then provide the URL that will be the destination when the link to the page is clicked:
Finally, click on the blue "Save" button. Be sure to publish any changes in order for the live site to be updated.
Add Custom Pages/Folders
To add a custom folder, click on the blue "+ Add Folder" button, type in the folder name, and click enter on the keyboard. You can then save pages within the folder as described above.
To add a custom page, click on the blue "+ Add Page" button and select the "Blank" page template.
After the "Blank" option is selected, the next step is to define the "Page Name" that will appear on the navigation menu, the "Lead Source" that will be associated with any leads that register directly on this page or right after clicking on it, and then the "URL" that will appear after the domain.
